The Mexican Air Force is hosting its first international air show at Military Base #1 in Santa Lucia. The Feria Aerospatiale Mexico 2015 brings together hundreds of aviation-related companies from around the world including over thirty U.S. companies.

The Fair, held at Mexico’s largest military air strip, seeks to position Mexico as a site for commercial exchanges in the aerospace and defense sectors, promoting international exchanges and training, and offering the public a chance to get a closer look at this industry and its products. This is the first event of its kind in Mexico and is held in commemoration of the centennial of the Mexican Air Force. It is now expected to occur every other year.

A delegation from the U.S. military was led by Heidi Grant, Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force for International Affairs. Ms. Grant noted, “I was very impressed by the size and scope of this fair. The Mexican Air Force organizers have put on a first-class event to celebrate the Mexican aviation industry and the FAM’s 100th Anniversary. I am proud to see so many leading U.S. companies here to showcase our strength in the aerospace industry.”

Ms. Grant viewed the U.S. Army’s CH-47 “Chinook” on display, toured the U.S. Pavilion, and was able to visit some of the  U.S. companies participating in the event including Boeing, Honeywell, UTC, and Rockwell Collins among many others.
